Project Management

The program aims to introduce the tools & techniques of project management and the potential Quality, Cost and Delivery (QCD)benefits from the execution of project management within the company. It achieves this by reviewing the current working practices and processes of staff and tasks throughout the company. The program describes the importance and scope of undertaking successful project management and highlights the improvements that can be realised.

training courseThe College's four-phase approach to sustainable learning encompasses initial diagnostics, customisation, delivery and continuous support.

Phase 1  Diagnostic

A business diagnostic phase with senior managers helps to identify the specific needs of the company and leads to a recommendation of company needs and preferred learning approach.

Phase 2  Vision and Strategy

Participants at senior to middle management level receive advice and guidance on project management and its implementation. The learning approach is defined and a schedule produced. Projects that have been identified for development are used as a measurement of the success of the program. The key performance indicators are customised for a particular company. The synergy between the business objectives, the learning activities and the key indicators allow for improvements in QCD.

Phase 3  Staged Workshops

The learning workshops, targeted at shop floor supervisors to middle management level staff, help support the implementation and development of project management. The location and timing of the program is negotiated to satisfy the company's needs. The delivery team uses the key performance indicators that have been identified in order to make the learning realistic and relevant. Participants apply the learning to projects within their company with the objective of achieving improvements in these indicators.

Phase 4  Follow-up

Continuous support from the Automotive College partners before, during and after the implementation of the action plan.
